Extra! Extra! Today's spotlight on a rescued animal
The Blackberry Family is captured on camera by rescuer Carol Fuegi of the Point Roberts Animal Well-Being Society in Washington state. Carol bestows kindness upon these feral cats and many other animals.
Hot off the presses
Two of my stories ran in the Nov/Dec issue of Animal Sheltering, a beloved bi-monthly Humane Society of United States magazine. And YAY, one of them made the cover: my in-depth piece that's written to help shelter workers cope with compassion fatigue, and understand the disorder. And the magazine also included an updated story on the Kendall kids saving animals.
This website is new, so expect to see changes in the days to come. I'll be loading more stories about people to be admired. I'm speaking to celebrities and regular people who are accomplishing awe-inspiring feats. I'll profile shelters and sanctuaries from coast to coast. Plus I'll unveil ways that kids can be part of the growing movement to protect and save the liveliest component of our environment -- the animal kingdom.
I’ve been a journalist and an animal rescuer for more than 20 years. Besides telling my own tales, I report about my work on the road. The animal rescue community is notorious for avoiding the public eye, but I am one of the initiated.
Come along for the ride and read about my encounters with shelters and rescue groups located around North America: death-defying rescues, incredible saves and heroes toiling in the trenches.
Don't be shy. I look forward to hearing from you. Post a comment on the blog, or send me an email at carreen@fuzzytown.com.
